You are invited to participate in the Artistic Garden Tour.  This acre of land in Des Montes with a main house and numerous outbuildings is a prime study in the acequia system.  Bordering the property on three sides are two ditches, the bubbling Madre del Rio Lucero and the Rabalsa ditch.  All of the buildings (note the main house and guest house partially built of logs) were constructed by the owner who was once a builder before he became one of Taos’ leading artists.  You will find him painting as you wander around the free-flowing landscaping which features planted dry mounds, flower beds, aspens, Canadian Service trees and other tree varieties.

Whimsical metal sculptures, beginning with a large flying pig as you enter and soon another pig, so big you know he’s on steroids, can be seen during your wanderings. There’s even a watering trough for the herd of deer that come to visit. A spinning sculpture vibrates the ground which keeps away moles, prairie dogs and other unwanted wild life. Several orchards with apple, green gage plum, crab apple and local blue plum trees surround the house and guest house.  Feel free to sit in one of the numerous conversation areas and enjoy the country.

We encourage carpooling with other Los Jardineros members.  If other members will be riding with you, please list them as a guest and we will register them separately.  We are attempting to limit the number of cars, not the number of members.  Each member will be encouraged to bring one non-paying non-member guest to attend each tour in the hopes that this exposure will incentivize increased membership.
