Que Vivo!

Couse-Sharp Foundation will be hosting a special new community-wide event to be held on Saturday, June 7, from 11-3 PM. It should be an incredible, no admission charge event for the Taos community, and especially for the children of Taos. This event will have four main facets: the celebration itself on the Couse-Sharp grounds, a special exhibition in the Luna Chapel about the old Tio Vivo merry-go-round that was once on the Taos Plaza, house and studio tours, and a special art exhibition and sale called jQue Viva Arte! which will be in the Dean Porter Gallery.

We were approached by the Couse-Sharp Foundation to request our participation in the Que Vivo! event, especially to see if we could offer a fun activity for children. In the past, during Lilac Festival, the Los Jardineros did a planting project for kids. We provided planting materials, flowerpots, and plants and flowers for the children to put together with guidance from Garden Club member volunteers. This was always a successful and fun way to engage children and families.

Los Jardineros has offered this activity for the Que Vivo! project. We think it will be a wonderful and fun outreach for the community children and families who will attend Que Vivo! We will also have Los Jardineros Garden Club information at our tables available to distribute. Needless to say, CouseĀ Sharp welcomes Los Jardineros' participation and looks forward to working with all of us.

Naturally, we can't do it without Garden Club volunteers. Ideally, we would like volunteer to participate in a 3 hour shift, to accommodate setup and take down of the tent.  Either 9am to 1 pm or 1pm to 4pm.  If you can't participate for an entire shift then sign up for a shift and note the hours you can participate.  We will also have signup sheets at the May 15th meeting and at the May 22 Social, if you don't want to sign-up online.

We have always had fun assisting the children in planting their flowers and answering questions about Los Jardineros.  We hope you can join those who signed up at our last meeting.
