Our June speaker will be Jack Carpenter.  His talk is entitled, "The Forest Around Us."

Mr. Carpenter received a BS in Forestry in 1973 from University of Missouri-Columbia. Shortly afterwards he left for the Peace Corps in Costa Rica as a forester. Serviced from late 1973 until the end of 1975.  Returned to the US and started work for US Forest Service in 1976. Retired from the US Forest Service in 2013 with basically 41 years of service. He has worked as a contract forester for Taos Soil and Water Conservation District for going on 7 years. Have enjoyed meeting and working with many landowners across Taos County.  He has also worked with New Mexico State Forestry as a contract inspector.  he continues to work on forest fires as member of complex incident management team. First forest fire was in 1971 as a ground pounder.   In 1985 he became a state licensed foster parent and served in that capacity for 36 years with 144 long term children in home and many other short term children.
