We are arranging, with the immense help of our Tour Venue Coordinator, Lawrence Baker, a series of Members Only Garden Tours.  For each tour, you will need to make a reservation so that we can ease the parking situation for the homeowner.  The tours will be of the garden only.  When you make your reservation you will receive directions to the garden.

Rarely does a garden come available for viewing in the Stake Out subdivision, the last housing development on the left of Hwy. 68 before you descend into the Horse Shoe Curves. This lovely and serene English cottage garden features almost exclusively New Mexico perennial native plants.  Following the owner’s design, her recently deceased husband installed all of the hardscape. The color scheme for the house and plants is purple or its complements so nothing orange is allowed.

As you walk down the driveway, turn left into the entrance to the xeric garden, called “The Hill,” which abounds in native grasses. Take note of a huge Shaman sculpture, one of many sculptures throughout the property. From there, circle around the back of the house and enter “The Stockade” and marvel at the VegTrug full of delicious herbs. (Google VegTrug Patio Garden.) Exiting to complete your circumferential tour, purple smoke bushes, more native grasses and plants and the charming, large perennial garden in the front of the house come into view. Look across the arroyo to Raven Point, sporting two raven sculptures. A fascinating sculpture, also across the arroyo, is one of two Native American men with very large horns pulling a rope between them. When finishing your tour, delight in the gardens called “The Peninsula” around the guest house on your left.
