May Meeting "SAVE A PLACE FOR WILDLIFE"

  • Thursday, May 18, 2017
  • 9:30 AM
  • Taos Tennis Meeting Room, 88 State Road 150, El Prado

The speaker at our May meeting will be George Miller discussing "Save a Place for Wildlife." (If you cannot attend this meeting, he will present the same talk Wed. 5/17, 6pm  at the Taos Chapter, Native Plant Society of NM, meeting at Kit Carson board room.)

George Miller is an environmental photojournalist, naturalist, and author of "Landscaping with Native Plants of the Southwest."  He has written field guides and smart phone apps for wildflowers of New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and Southern California.  Currently, he is the president of the Albuquerque chapter of the Native Plant Society of New Mexico.  Human housing disrupts the complex web of life from soil microorganisms to butterflies, bees, birds and small mammals that once lived here.  George will discuss the backyard basics of plants that will create an oasis for wildlife in a desert of gravel, lawns, alien plants, pavement and parking lots. His website is traveldujour.com.

Our social time will begin at 9:30 am.  The business portion of the meeting will begin at 10 am, followed by our speaker.
